The festive season has always had a special relationship with light. From the glow of a diya and strings of twinkling fairy lamps to the brilliance of the night sky, light has been a symbol of hope, celebration and anticipation. This festive season, Tanishq and Mia by Tanishq are interpreting that brightness in two very different ways through their latest jewellery collections.
While Tanishq Adhyantara’s muse is the night sky and the mysterious beauty of the cosmos, Mia by Tanishq’s Lightscapes finds inspiration closer to home (and the ground), in joyful lights and flickering flames that adorn spaces in the festive season.
“We wanted to explore the infinite wonder of the universe and bring it closer to the woman who inspires us,” said Pelki Tshering, Chief Marketing Officer, Tanishq, during the launch of Adhyantara last month, adding that the collection was an homage to Indian craftsmanship, while appealing to a more contemporary sensibility. Ishita Kumar, Head of Design, Mia by Tanishq, highlighted the inspiration behind the collection during its launch last month as well, saying, “Light has always been a universal symbol of joy, hope and togetherness across cultures and celebrations. With Lightscapes, we celebrate this emotion through the visual language of illumination.”
A universe of choices
Designed for the modern Indian woman who embraces individuality while staying connected to her cultural roots, Adhyantara explores celestial movement, light and intricate forms through distinctive silhouettes and detailed craftsmanship. Garima Maheshwari, Head of Design, Tanishq, highlighted the role of 3D sculptural forms, layered badroom, Tanishq’s patented 3D Glass Kundan, hand-carved stones and distinctive enamel finishes, in creating depth and dimension.
Adhyantara offers over a hundred designs across glass kundan, plain jewellery with stones, plain gold and uncut diamonds. The collection includes necklace sets, bangles, finger rings and mangalsutras, crafted in 18K and 22K gold. The asterism theme echoes the visual language of the night sky, with fire opals and sunstones that add flashes of colour.
Several pieces feature modular 3-in-1, 4-in-1 and 5-in-1 designs, with detachable pendants and separable layers that allow pieces to be styled in multiple ways. Truly designed for the woman, who is curious, imaginative and unafraid to explore beyond the familiar to embrace her individuality, beautifully showcased in the collection’s campaign featuring Bollywood star Triptii Dimri
A celebration of light
Inspired by cascading festive lights, shimmering reflections on water and flickering flames, Lightscapes by Mia transforms the many expressions of illumination associated with celebration into contemporary jewellery.
With 230+ designs across plain gold, natural diamonds and coloured stones, the collection ranges from jhumkis and sculptural danglers to necklaces, pendants, rings and bracelets.
Crafted in 9K and 14K gold, the collection features elegant jhumkis, sculptural danglers, necklaces, pendants, rings and bracelets, ranging from delicate everyday pieces to statement designs for festive occasions. Lightscapes’ design language is shaped by fluid gold forms, intricate arrangements of diamonds, layered silhouettes and textured surfaces that catch and reflect light. Specialised finishing techniques lend further depth and dimension to the gold.
Colour brings another dimension to the collection. The Lightscapes Colour Edit comprises 67 designs in 9K gold, with gemstones cut into distinctive tilak, hexagonal, kite, baguette and octagonal forms. The edit extends across studs, pendants, stackable and cocktail rings and lariat necklaces, alongside contemporary interpretations of Navratna jewellery and convertible earrings.
Many pieces are priced under Rs 50,000, emphasising the brand’s focus on accessibility and ensuring that consumers can “make jewellery a part of their celebrations and everyday lives”. “[Through] Lightscapes, we are translating this shift into a collection that brings together festive inspiration, distinctive design and everyday relevance,” said Shyamala Ramanan, Business Head, Mia by Tanishq.
“At Tanishq, we believe the festive season is a time to embrace wonder, celebrate individuality and find beauty in the extraordinary,” says Ms Tshering. Both Adhyantara and Lightscapes do just that; while one collection reaches into the infinite, the other captures the warmth of celebration closer to home. Together, these collections bring two expressions of radiance to the festive season: jewellery inspired by the light above us and the light all around us.
