The Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany — a hotel built in 1952 on a former city palace site of the Hessian nobility — is now the Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt. This marks the first Continental European address for Taj, the World’s Strongest Hotel Brand 2025.
"This is a milestone in IHCL’s journey as we expand our footprint in key international gateway cities,” Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, had said in 2023 announcing the company’s plan to foray into Continental Europe with The Hessischer Hof. Frankfurt, Germany’s financial capital, is a global hub for commerce, culture, education and tourism.
The hotel reopened as the 126-key Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt on June 1, 2026, following extensive renovations. “We are delighted to reopen this iconic landmark following its extensive renovations and bringing the warmth of Tajness to Frankfurt,” Mr Chhatwal said.
The new design features modern accents while preserving the architectural integrity of the historical structure. It retains Jimmy’s Bar, the hotel’s iconic bar known for its live piano performances and signature cocktails. And it brings to Frankfurt iconic Taj brands like Bombay Brasserie, the restaurant that has already made its mark in London, Cape Town and Dubai; The Chambers, India’s first exclusive business club; and Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle, a luxury wellness spa rooted in the wisdom of ayurveda.
With this, IHCL has a portfolio of 630 hotels, including 255 in the pipeline globally across 4 continents, 15 countries and 300+ locations.
