March 23, 2018: Tata Power announces the appointment of Praveer Sinha as its new chief executive officer and managing director

Tata Power today announced the appointment of Praveer Sinha as the firm’s new chief executive officer and managing director with effect from May 1, 2018 to oversee the next phase of expansion of India’s leading energy and infrastructure player.

Mr Sinha is currently the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL). TPDDL is a public private partnership (joint venture) between Tata Power and Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, supplying power to over seven million people in North and North-West Delhi.

Mr Sinha has over three decades of experience in the power sector and has been credited with transforming the power distribution sector and development and setting up of greenfield and brownfield power plants in India and abroad.

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Power, said, “Praveer’s extensive experience in the power sector and his ability to drive performance, maximise returns and work seamlessly with stakeholders will be very valuable for Tata Power as it looks to strengthen and expand its position in fast-evolving energy market.”

Mr Sinha holds a master’s degree in business law from National Law School, Bengaluru, and is also professionally trained as an electrical engineer. He is also a member of the faculty board at Faculty of Management Studies [FMS], and a member of Board of Governors at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi. He is a research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and is also a visiting Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, USA.

March 22, 2018: Tata Sons announces appointment of new Group Government Affairs Officer

Mumbai: Tata Sons today announced the appointment of Tanmoy Chakrabarty as the Group Government Affairs Officer, he will be based out of New Delhi. Mr Chakrabarty will work closely with Tata Sons and the Tata Companies in government relations to help support businesses and identify opportunities as well as for government stakeholder outreach.

Mr Chakrabarty will replace Sanjay Singh, advisor, Tata Sons. Mr Singh joined the Group in 1978 and over the last 40 years, has worked in a variety of roles across functions across Tata Companies. Mr Singh will continue to work for a period of one year to ensure a seamless transition.

In his previous role Mr Chakrabarty was the vice president and global head of the Government Industry Solutions Unit at Tata Consultancy Services, a position he has held since January 2004. He led the TCS team that executed projects including Passport Seva project and MCA-21.
