September 13, 2025. At a beach cleanup drive organised on the shores of Juhu, Mumbai as part of TCS’ Hours of Purpose by Employees (HOPE) programme, 395 TCS employees joined hands to successfully collect a whopping 1,955 kg of waste from the beach, demonstrating the true meaning of responsible corporate citizenship.
HOPE is a transformational initiative by TCS that empowers its highly skilled and diverse workforce to champion such purpose projects and give back to society. HOPE bridges societal needs with the skills and active engagement of TCS’ employees, creating impactful projects with long-term impact such as ecological restoration, reducing pollution, citizen empowerment, etc.
“HOPE has been a powerful expression of our collective spirit at TCS, a deep, unwavering commitment to creating meaningful change in the world. Together, we have forged a path of purposeful action, one that leaves a lasting, tangible impact in the communities we serve,” says Joseph Sunil Nallapalli, Global Head, CSR, TCS.

Launched in FY23, HOPE is hosted on #myPurpose, an adaptive and inclusive platform designed by TCSers for TCSers. With over 380 volunteering opportunities, it enables employees to make a difference on their own terms — choosing how, where, and with whom to contribute — cementing TCS’ position as a leader in employee volunteering.

With its dynamic and flexible format, HOPE aids TCS Business Units (BUs)to promote employee volunteering engagements. Project teams from BUs are mobilised to participate in varied volunteering programmes, to collaborate with like-minded customer organisations, NGOs, and government bodies, embracing community projects where the need is high. HOPE's flexible design unites NGOs and like-minded organisations, making volunteering opportunities accessible to group companies and facilitates the co-creation of projects.
Aligned with the 17 UN SDGs, HOPE drives impactful change by championing causes such as climate action, health and well-being, poverty alleviation and reduced inequalities. Driven by Purpose Councils — leaders inspired by the Tata Group ethos of caring for the community — HOPE cultivates a purpose-driven ecosystem, paving the way for long-term, sustainable change. By transforming volunteering from a sporadic activity into a strategic force of positive change, HOPE is redefining how we create a better world one deed at a time.
