A New Breed Of Cat

The Jaguar Type 00 ushers in a new era for the brand as it embraces its ‘copy nothing’ vision and rewrites the luxury electric playbook

Fittingly debuting at Miami Art Week, Jaguar’s Type 00 showcases visionary design that defies electric vehicle (EV) convention and personifies the brand’s mission to abandon the familiar in pursuit of the extraordinary.

Here’s more on the design vision that is set to inspire future Jaguars, including the four-door GT to be revealed at a later date.

Slide and glide

Brass ingots, etched with the signature ‘leaper’, dramatically deploy on demand, to reveal rear-facing cameras that are hidden until needed. The theme continues inside, with folding dashboard screens, charging ports and powered stowage areas.

Mirror to screen

A ClearSight display digital screen on the dashboard replaces the traditional rearview mirror, bringing to life Jaguar’s philosophy of using technology to enhance the luxury experience.

A flush front

Defying electric vehicle rules, the bonnet is long and sweeping, with a flat, wide front dominated by the strikethrough graphic on the grill. The distinctive slim headlights emphasise the hard edges of the corners.

Maker’s marks

The legendary ‘leaper’— a jaguar springing forward— has evolved into a sleeker design, laser-etched into brass ingots on the sides and on the strikethrough in the interiors. However, the ‘growler’ — the fearsome big cat baring its teeth — has been replaced by an artistic monogram.

A dramatic statement

Butterfly doors, a pantograph tailgate, and wheels milled from a single billet of aluminium add a sense of theatre.

Sculpted rear

A glassless tailgate flows from the panoramic body-harmonised glazed roof. The Strikethrough graphic further defines the rear, concealing the dramatic full-width tail-lights that are hidden until lit.

Material world

Inside, brass marries stone and soft textiles. The central 3.2m brass spine supports the floating instrument panels on the dash, while a travertine stone base supports the floating seats. Woven wool cocoons the seats and swathes the sound bar and floor in a celebration of richness and sustainability.

The Prism case lets you tailor the cabin to suit your mood; adjust lighting, sounds, graphics and scents to transform the cabin into your own personal haven.

Customisation max

Thanks to the Prism case crafted by the design team, you can now tailor the cabin to suit your mood. Tucked away behind a power door, the Prism case has three totems— made of brass, travertine and alabaster. Place your chosen totem in the centre console, and adjust the lighting, sounds, graphics and scents to transform the cabin into your own personal haven.

Palette cleanse

The car is presented in three colours: Satin Rhodon Rose, inspired by the rose patina of aged brass, and dubbed Miami Pink in an ode to the city; Inception Silver Blue or London Blue, which is inspired by Jaguar’s Opalescent Silver Blue of the 1960s, and Ultramarine Blue, revered by artists of Renaissance-era France for its prestige and rarity.

What’s in a name?

‘Type’ harkens back to the brand’s origins, with models like the E-type. While the first zero references Jaguar’s commitment to zero tailpipe emissions through its EVs, the second highlights its status — car zero — in Jaguar’s new lineage.
