What is Tata SCIP?
Tata SCIP is a platform that allows women who have taken a break from their career due to personal commitments or other reasons to restart their career on their terms.
In this programme, you can have several options through which you can return to active employment after a break. Further questions outline the details.
What are the various job formats that SCIP provides?
Broadly, Tata SCIP provides three job formats: Projects, Consultant Roles, Full-Time Roles.
Projects: Usually of 3-6 months, with mutually agreed and fairly flexible work hours but will not equate to full working hours. Remuneration depends on the nature of the project and your experience and qualifications.
Consultant Roles: Consultant roles are usually 6-12 months long. Working hours are mutually agreed between you and your reporting manager. Remuneration depends on the nature of the project and your experience and qualifications.
Full-time Roles: Full-time roles are regular employment. Working hours and remuneration would be as per the Tata company's employment policy.

Can men apply for a role listed on SCIP?
SCIP is a second career programme that offers women professionals with various job formats to help them return from a break. If you are a male and interested in pursuing a career with the Tata group, please visit Tata group company websites for career opportunities.
I have more than 2 years of work experience, but have a break in the career. Can I apply?
If you have at least two years of continuous work experience in the relevant domain areas, you are welcome to register and start applying for profiles that fit your requirement. However, do remember that at the time of application, you should be on a break and not employed with any organisation.
What is the maximum career break allowed?
There is no maximum period for a career break. We encourage you to register and explore your options, irrespective of the length of your break. Selection is based on merit.
I have not taken a break. Am I eligible to apply?
The SCIP programme is currently only open to women who have at least two years of continuous work experience in the relevant domain areas. However, it is a mandatory requirement that at the time of application, you should be on a break and not employed with any organisation. If you are currently employed in an organisation, you can simply apply to the Tata group company of your choice through their website.
What are the professional qualifications that I must have to apply?
The qualifications required to apply will vary as per each opportunity and will be specified under all the available vacancies.
How do I apply or register?

Why should I register if there is no suitable opportunity for me?
With several operating companies in the Tata group, new openings are constantly being added on the Tata SCIP platform. Can I send my resume by Email?
No. All applicants to SCIP are required to register online along with their resume to apply for the opportunities listed on the website.

After registration, can I apply for multiple jobs?
You must choose an assignment that best suits your preferences. You have the option to apply for multiple assignments. Even if you are not selected for a particular assignment, you may be considered for other assignments to which you have applied.
Can I edit my profile details?
You can edit your profile details using the login and password details provided at the time of registration.
I forgot my password, is there an option to reset it?
Yes, you can reset your password by clicking on the reset password link. We do suggest that you note your login credentials for future reference.
What is the selection procedure followed at Tata SCIP?
The selection Process at Tata SCIP happens through a series of steps, beginning with your online registration. Candidates who have applied for a particular opportunity, are then shortlisted based on the criteria specified by the hiring company. The shortlisted candidates will be screened through a personal interview. Some profiles may require additional steps depending upon the role and skill sets required.
How many rounds of interview do I need to attend?
This would differ for each format and further depend on the company, domain and skill set required.
During the SCIP Engagement
What will the working schedule be under the three job formats?
Broadly, Tata SCIP provides three job format options: Projects, Consultant Roles and Full-Time Roles. The working hours for the Projects and Consultant Roles will have to be mutually decided between the candidate and manager. However, certain core hours will have to be spent on-site as agreed upon prior to acceptance of offer.
What is the duration of the Projects and Consultant Roles?
Projects can be for a duration of 3-6 months and working hours (not equating to full hours) are to be decided mutually between candidate and project guide. Consultant roles can be for a duration of 6-12 months and working hours are to be mutually decided between candidate and reporting manager.
On completing the Project, can the duration be extended?
On completion of a Project or a consulting assignment, it can be extended subject to the requirements of the hiring company.
What are the guidelines for remuneration?
The remuneration will be determined by the hiring company depending on the job format selected:
- Projects: Dependent on duration and nature of the project and experience of the candidate
- Consultant Roles: Dependent on the role, relevant experience and project duration
- Full-time roles: As per the respective Company policy
Will the remuneration be taxed?
Yes, appropriate tax deduction at source will be made before the remuneration is paid. TDS certificates will be issued wherever applicable. Service Tax, if applicable, will be paid provided tax invoice is raised along with appropriate Service Tax registration.
After the SCIP Engagement
Will I get a Full-time Role on completion of a Project or Consultant Role?
If there is a full-time opportunity that exists post project completion, the project guide and the SCIP consultant may take it forward on mutually acceptable terms.
Can I work for a company different from the company where I do a SCIP assignment?
Yes, on completion of a SCIP assignment with us, you are free to work for any company of your choice, if an opportunity exists.
Is it mandatory to do a short-term project under SCIP to get employed with the Tata Group?
Not at all. The projects and consultant roles are ideally meant for women who, due to time constraints, family responsibilities, and/or personal pursuits, want to work part-time. If you wish to pursue a full-time employment, then please apply to such opportunities here.
