N Srinath named Telecom CEO of the Year

VSNL executive director N Srinath has been named the Telecom CEO of the Year by leading publishing group Telecom Asia in the 2006 edition of its awards. Srinath received the special trophy at a glittering ceremony in Phuket, Thailand.

"It is an honour to receive this award which is in recognition of the great strides that VSNL has made in the last few years in re-inventing itself to compete in a global marketplace. I am pleased to accept this on behalf of all the people who have helped make this happen," Srinath said, while accepting the award.

The 2006 Telecom Asia award has been given in recognition of Srinath's role in transforming VSNL from a domestic monopoly to a major global company in just four years. The Telecom Asia Awards, across various categories for both individuals and companies, are the most prestigious honours programme in Asian telecommunications and have been presented annually since 1998. The award winners were chosen on their combined financial, market and technology strengths, based on the financial analysis and assessments of a 19-member judging panel.
