Internet and telecom major Videsh
Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) has bagged a bandwidth contract
from the UK's National Network for Research and Education,
Janet.
Under the contract, VSNL Telecommunications UK, the
company's subsidiary would supply high bandwidth global
internet access for Janet's Education and Research Institutions
across the UK, VSNL said in a release on Monday.
However, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Janet connects the UK's universities, colleges, research

The company would be providing an aggregate capacity

in London as part of a multiple year agreement.
VSNL's global IP (internet protocall) backbone is engineered
for scalability and designed to minimise latency and
increase network availability and security to ensure
an unmatched service quality for our customers.
Service providers and multi-national corporations with
global internet requirements can supply their users
with seamless connectivity and sustained performance,
with data taking the most direct route on the internet,"
said Genius Wong, vice-president, wholesale IP of VSNL.
