VSNL cyber cafes at 68 railway stations

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) will set up Wi-Fi-enabled areas in several railway stations across the country to help laptop-carrying passengers avail of internet services. The telecommunications major will also build cyber cafes at 68 railway stations to create user-friendly internet access points. The first such cyber cafe has already been opened at the Bangalore railway station. Shashi Kalathil, president, broadband & retail business, VSNL, said: "The company would create Wi-Fi enabled areas in railway stations so that passengers can use internet on their laptops. We are also working on cyber café-equipped railway stations."

The company plans to complete the project within the next few weeks and will offer value-added services like printing, scanning, mobile charging and CD writing at these cafes. Each of them would be equipped with 20 high-end multimedia PCs. The cafes will be open round the clock. All Tata Indicom dial-up internet and broadband subscribers can surf the web by using their existing accounts.

VSNL has a global presence, including operations in the US, Canada, UK, South Africa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, besides India. Its range of service offerings include wholesale voice, private leased circuits, IP MPLS VPN, internet access, hosting, mobile signaling and several other IP services.
