bags order for world's tallest building

Voltas awarded
two major mechanical and electrical contracts
Voltas, Indias premier
air conditioning and engineering services company of
the Tata Group, has been awarded two major mechanical
and electrical contracts for (i) The Burj Tower, Dubai
and (ii) Hyderabad International Airport.
(i) Burj Dubai Development,
the Burj Tower:
Voltas has, jointly with Emirates Trading Agency (Dubai)
and Hitachi Plant Engineering & Construction Company
(Singapore), been awarded a sub-contract for mechanical,
electrical and plumbing works for the worlds highest
skyscraper, Burj Tower, to be developed by EMAAR Properties,
Dubai. Samsung Corporation is the main contractor. The
overall sub-contract value is AED 829 million (Rs 974
crore) and the companys share works out to AED
311 million (Rs 365 crore). The work is scheduled to
be completed by December 2008.
The Burj Tower would be, by far
the tallest building in the world comprising residential
apartments, hotel, boutiques, offices, to be constructed
along the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The building would
have 162 floors and height of over 700 meters.
(ii) Hyderabad International
Airport:
The company has been awarded a sub-contract for the
mechanical and electrical works of the Hyderabad International
Airport Passenger Terminal Building Works, by
China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong), the
main contractor. The value of the sub-contract is Rs
134 crore. The scope of work would comprise HVAC, electrical,
plumbing and drainage systems, building automation system,
fire fighting system, fire detection and suppression
system, visual docking guidance system and access control
systems. The contract would have a completion period
of 30 months.
