Titan
Industries included in Retail Asia's Top 500
October 24, 2007
A moment of pride
and glory for Titan Industries.
On October 11, 2007, Retail Asia Pacific Top 500 awards
joined hands to salute and celebrate with the 2007 star
retailers from 14 countries and 10 categories in the
Asia-Pacific region.
Titan Industries was ranked 299th out of 500 retail
companies across 14 countries and was awarded the bronze
medal. Also among the Top 500 were LG and Pantaloon.
Priya Mathilakath, manager, retail training received
the award on behalf of the company.
Retail Asia Pacific Top 500 ranking for 2007 is the
fourth in the series of what has become highly regarded
and anticipated annual ranking of retail enterprises
in the region.
The Top 500 this year has again provided a definitive
ranking of the Asia Pacifics top retailers across
14 key economies and across 10 major retail formats
or categories. The ranking continues to be based on
sales revenue and to provide the very vital index of
sales productivity per unit area. This year there has
been a significant improvement to the layout format,
they introduced Outlet type and the Fascia
/ brand to precede the name of the retailing
company. This quickly defines which particular
business unit of the retail company is being ranked
at a given spot. This is intended to remove some ambiguity
arising from reading the name of the company first
the ambiguity arising from the fact that numerous retail
companies have appeared in multiple spots on account
that they operate across geographies and across retail
categories.
Mission of Top 500 is to remain solidly more than just
a ranking of the who's who in the industry. Ranking
today has already become a useful body of organised
information. It will eventually be a database of business
intelligence and valuable information and insights into
the experiences, lessons and drivers of successful Asia
Pacific retailing.
Not surprisingly, retail companies operating in India
who made it into the Top 500 ranking propelled the country
ahead of other Asia-Pacific economies in US dollar growth
terms. The total retail sales achieved by the top 17
retailers in India posted growth in excess of 31 per
cent over 2005.
