Titan
launches Heritage Collection
October 12, 2007
In a fitting tribute
to the 60th year of Indian independence, Titan launched
The Titan Heritage Collection, a unique range of watches
inspired by India's rich heritage, in September.
With Indian art and culture becoming increasingly popular
internationally, the time was right to offer domestic
consumers a range of products that pay tribute to the
Indian heritage. The collection is targeted at the new-generation
Indian consumer who is aware of global trends and is
proud to flaunt his Indian cultural identity.
The collection has nine distinct styles, each with
an individual story that beautifully captures an aspect
of the inspiration and renders it into beautiful forms.
The design of every watch in the collection emerges
from beautiful stories told by the ancient monuments
of India. Inspirations from Hindu temple architecture
are taken to design the mandala and stambha. The Konark,
as the name suggests, is a watch inspired by the imposing
chariot wheel of the Sun Temple of Konark.
Besides architectural inspirations, the collection
also uses Indian mythology to create unusual watches.
The site of the legendary war between the Kauravas and
Pandavas inspires the Kurukshetra watch. Ajanta uses
the painted narratives of the Jataka tales from Ajanta
and Ellora caves.
Lakshmi Vilas Palace depicts the harmony of turrets,
domes, arches and columns in palatial splendor. Jantar
mantar will tell the time all over again and compliments
the ancient system that probed the heavens. And last
but not the least, Taj, the most obvious example of
the confluence of cultures constructed out of mother
of pearl, stands for serenity, romance and passion.
