Time Products wins recognition with CII Exim Bank award
for business excellence
November 27, 2006
Titan
Time Products (TTPL) has won the first-level recognition
of "Strong Commitment to Excellence" and was
awarded the "CII Exim Bank Award for business excellence"
commendation certificate on November 14, 2006, at the
inaugural session of the16th National Quality summit
held at Bangalore.
The assessment team was led by
Cadavasala Kumar, an ex-senior management member of
Wartzila, and also an accomplished non-Tata assessor
for TBEM. The other members of the team were from varied
industries such as Ace designers, BHEL, Kirloskar Cummins,
RPG etc.
TTPL, a fully owned susidary
of Titan Industries, has embarked on its journey of
transformation from a single-product, single-customer
unit to a multiproduct, multi-customer, globally competitive
EMS contract manufacturer.
The team at TTPL had realised
that it had to build on its excellent manufacturing
processes and therfore had embarked on a journey of
excellence in all aspects of the busines. This jouney
of TTPL was recognised by the "Frost & Sullivan
Manufacturing Excellence Award" last year.
Over the last one year, TTPL
revisited its processes dispassionately and, wherever
necessary, made significant changes in line with its
new vision and the consequent challenges it had to face.
The next logical step was to
get an outside view of its processes, directions, action
plans, and go about bridging the gaps in a structured
way. In this direction, TTPL chose to adopt the CII
Business Excellence Model for this purpose and applied
for an assessment this year.
