and CRY add a smile to India's tomorrow
Organise
nationwide painting competition for children
December
21, 2004
Tanishq,
India's leading jewellery brand, as part of its
annual project with CRY is organising a national
level painting competition for children of Tanishq
employees and customers across various Tanishq
boutiques and offices. Tanishq has been actively
involved in community development through various
social initiatives, especially for the underprivileged
children. The fourth edition of this annual national
level competition will be held at select Tanishq
boutiques and offices starting Sunday, December
5, 2004.
With
'Nature' as its theme, the painting competition
aims reveal children's expressions and perceptions
of nature in the form of art. Participants will
express their creativity through various aspects
of nature encompassing Daisy flowers blooming
in spring, Aqua Waterworld, Tribal
the jungle people, Aamra Mango, the king
of fruits and Mystique Starry nights. The
painting competition will be held simultaneously
at Tanishq boutiques across the county. The award
winning paintings will be featured in the annual
Tanishq 2005 calendar and select merchandise.
The sale proceeds of this merchandise will go
towards child development initiatives of CRY.
Speaking
on the initiative, Harish Bhat, COO, Tanishq said,
"Tanishq as a socially responsible organisation
has undertaken various community development initiatives
and our four year old association with CRY is
part of this endeavour. Tanishq aims to help any
organisation that wishes to make a difference
to the society and we believe CRY has made a wonderful
contribution to the society with its initiatives
towards the care and concern of the underprivileged
children. We are honoured to be supported by our
employees and customers in making a difference
to the lives of these children and making this
endeavour a success."
Added
Regina Thomas, director (South), CRY says, "We
appreciate Tanishq's efforts in partnering CRY's
cause for underprivileged children. Through this
activity which is by children for children, Tanishq
has given them an opportunity to express their
creativity."
Since
2001, CRY has printed exclusive desk calendars
for Tanishq and each year nearly 15,000 calendars
are rolled out as part of this initiative. The
calendars are based on selected theme-based paintings
created by children for this art competition.
Tanishq has also involved its customers in promoting
the cause of underprivileged children by initiating
the Change for Good Program. The programme, under
which customers could choose to round off their
bills by any amount and the excess proceeds were
donated to CRY, received a heartening response.
