Tanishq
and CRY come together to spread a little happiness
in a child’s life
November 23, 2003
Tanishq, the leading national
jeweller in the country as part of its annual project with CRY
organised a national level painting competition for children of Tanishq employees and customers across the various boutiques and offices of Tanishq. Tanishq has been involved in a lot of social causes, especially for
underprivileged children and has been organising events annually for the children of CRY. The national level painting competition was held across 37 Tanishq boutiques and offices nationally on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23, 2003.
The theme of this year’s painting competition, “Hocus
Pocus 2004” was to create a fairy-tale world, a world of fantasy where Harry Potter is a reality. The event was a huge success with over 5000 children participating nationally.
Twenty four winners were selected and they will get their paintings featured in the annual Tanishq 2004 merchandise. The proceeds from the sale of these merchandise will go towards the child development initiatives of CRY.
Speaking on the initiative, Harish Bhat, COO Tanishq, said, “Tanishq has been an
organisation that supports social causes and has been associated with CRY for over
three years now. We believe that CRY is doing a wonderful job towards restoring basic rights to underprivileged children and we extend our support to them in whatever way we can. Tanishq aims to help any
organisation that wishes to make a difference in people’s lives. We would like to thank all our employees and customers for making a difference to these children and contributing for the cause. Through such events, we are looking to increase our efforts in the local community.”
Regina Thomas, director, South, Child Relief and You, said, “We feel that Tanishq has demonstrated CRY’s belief that there are simple ways in which the corporate world and the common man can make a difference, within the context of their own lives or area of business.”
Tanishq has been associated with CRY from November 2001. In November 2001, more than 200 children (aged 3 to 14 years) of Titan and Tanishq employees participated in the painting competition.
The other programs undertaken by Tanishq for CRY includes “Change for
good program” where money was collected from all the boutiques of Tanishq and donated to CRY and the contributions till date for this ongoing program has been more than 1
lakh.
Since 2001, CRY has printed exclusive desk calendars
for Tanishq. Each year approximately 15,000 calendars
have been printed. The calendars are based on
child art, paintings that are selected from the
art competition held around Children’s Day.
