to launch new designs, expand presence

Titan Industries today said it will launch more innovative
products for young upmarket consumers and also plans
to increase retail presence.
"We will launch breakthrough innovative lifestyle
products quarter after quarter as consumers become more
aspirational," Titan's Chief Operating Officer
(Watches) Harish Bhat said.
He said innovative designs account for more than 40%
of the company's total sales. Watch lovers will soon
see a new theme inspired from nature in the 'Raga' range,
while the 'Fastrack' collection will offer more designs
inspired form adventure and technology.
The company has recently launched the Titan Heritage
collection, which draws inspiration from the monuments
and architecture across India, and Aviator collection
with designs of fighter aircraft during World War II.
"Even the Titan Edge, the most sleek watch in
the universe, would be available in more new designs,"
Bhat said.
Titan also plans to strengthen its retail presence
across India by opening new company-owned stores and
by working in tandem with major retailers. "Currently,
we have 222 Titan showrooms across the country. We are
aiming to take up this number to 265 by March 2008,"
he said.
He said new products will help Titan increase its retail
sales across large format stores like Lifestyle, Pantaloon
and Shopper's Stop where its presence was rapidly growing.
Titan currently has a major manufacturing facility
in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, while other units are located
at Dehradun, and Roorkee. It has an electronic circuit
board plant in Goa.
A joint venture between the Tata group and Tamil Nadu
Industrial Development Corporation, Titan clocked a
turnover of Rs 2,136 crore in the last fiscal.
