Titan launches new range
The Hindu — September 28, 2007

Titan Industries on Thursday launched its new range of products titled 'Titan Heritage Collection'. Present in nine distinct styles, the unique range of watches is inspired by India's rich architectural heritage and the watches are priced between Rs3,750 and Rs8,000.

Unveiling the new watches in the presence of musical maestros Taufiq Qureshi and Rahul Sharma, Titan Industries managing director Bhaskar Bhat said the heritage collection had been designed by Abhijit Bansod and had nine themes inspired by Konark, Ajanta, Taj Mahal, Jantar Mantar and other Indian masterpieces. These watches would be available at exclusive 'World of Titan' stores, he added.

Titan, which controls over 70 per cent of the organised retail watch market in India, plans to expand its retail network by adding at least 60 new 'World of Titan' stores in the current financial year to take the total number of outlets to 285. The company also hopes to see its turnover growing by over 50 per cent during the current fiscal to reach Rs3,200 crore. It reported a turnover of Rs2,136 crore last fiscal.

According to Bhat, Titan was also planning to expand globally. "Currently Titan is present in 31 countries and we will soon be entering Pakistan and Indonesia. We are also planning to export 10-lakh watches by the end of this fiscal."
