TCIL conferred CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2006

The award recognises Tinplate for its significant achievements in the area of environment, social and economic performance, the three pillars of sustainability.

Tinplate has been conferred 'Commendation for significant achievement on the journey towards sustainable development' (in Medium Business category) at a glittering function at New Delhi. The award was presented by Kamalnath, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, during the final session of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Conference and annual session 2006 held at New Delhi on 19.04.2006. Bushen Raina, managing director, TCIL, received the award for the company.

This award has been instituted by CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. The jury for selecting the award winners was headed by Dr R A Mashelkar, director general, CSIR and secretary, Department of Industrial Research. The purpose of this Sustainability Awards is to put forth role models in sustainable development for Indian businesses besides the award is also a knowledge imparting tool and will increase the understanding of Indian businesses about critical elements of the business approaches, strategies and practices.

The award given to the company signifies the Tinplate’s commitment and significant achievement towards sustainable performance in terms of policy, practices and in actual results. The award recognises Tinplate for its significant achievements in the area of environment, social and economic performance, the three pillars of sustainability.
