Telcon Eco Resurfaces Pvt Ltd (TERPL), a newly formed joint venture company between Telcon a Tata Motors subsidiary and the Hyderabad-based IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd and two Japan-based companies, GreenArm and Hitachi, is all set to take up resurfacing of Indian roads in a big way. To begin with, however, TERPL is set to prove its mettle in the steel city where it has bagged a contract for resurfacing roads under Tata Motors and the municipal services company, Jamshedpur Utility and Services Company (Jusco).

"This technology will help do the resurfacing job much faster and quicker while giving it a better finish," said Rana Sinha, managing director, Telcon Ltd. Asked about the potential of resurfacing roads in the country, a confident Mr Sinha told FE, "The potential with these machines is huge, but we want to create awareness first about the kind and quality of job that can be done with them." The joint venture company is in the process of importing a single piece machinery at a cost of Rs 22 to 24 crore from a joint venture company in Japan between Hitachi and GreenArm.
