TCS launches second campus in Hyderabad

Synergy Park will be the biggest TCS facility in the city with 8,000 seats

TCS, a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organisation, announced the launch of its second global delivery centre (GDC) in the city. Synergy Park, which is located in Gachibowli will be inaugurated by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Synergy Park will be the second TCS campus and the largest TCS facility in Hyderabad. Built over an area of 50 acres with a capacity of 8,000 people, the campus is being built in two phases; the first phase is already operational while the construction of phase two will commence in April 2008.

Synergy Park is an approved special economic zone and will serve global TCS customers in industry segments like telecommunications, media and entertainment, government, healthcare and life sciences, hi-tech, manufacturing, retail as well as banking and financial services with a focus on technology areas like enterprise solutions, assurance services and infrastructure services as well as IT services.
Speaking on this occasion, chief executive officer and managing director, S Ramadorai said: "The inauguration of Synergy Park is a significant milestone for our operations in Hyderabad and underlines the importance of the city as a key centre in our global network delivery model. "With a strong education, eco-system, plentiful talent and good infrastructure, Hyderabad has emerged as a leading IT destination and the city will continue to play a significant role in our growth plans," Mr Ramadorai added.

TCS has had operations in the city since 1979 and has helped Hyderabad establish itself as a leading centre for the IT industry in India. TCS has an employee base of over 6,000 people in the city currently.

TCS has also partnered with the Andhra Pradesh government to pioneer and provide innovative solutions to improve the quality of life of people in the state. Some of the key partnerships include:

  • SmartDegree, an RFID-embedded degree certificate to eliminate fraud in education for Hyderabad Central University.

  • AP Online, the official services delivery portal of the government of Andhra Pradesh, which has redefined the concept of government-citizen interaction in the state.

  • The IT solution for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme that has brought in complete accountability and transparency in operations and established AP as the role model for the rest of the country.

  • Automation of operations in the state government secretariat.

  • Developed a Tsunami Early Warning System for the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Government of India.

  • IT solution support for Arogyasree, a healthcare project to benefit less privileged sections initiated by the government.
