receives Golden Peacock Global Award for corporate social
responsibility 2007

Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) has been selected as the
winner of the 'Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate
Social Responsibility (Asia) 2007' for corporate
social responsibility (CSR) in the 'Large Business'
category by the Institute of Directors, the international
body of company directors.
TCS was conferred the award based
on an assessment, by an independent jury, of the company's
integration of CSR concerns with corporate functioning,
responsiveness to the needs of different stakeholders,
and development of innovative partnership models to
fulfill social responsibilities.
The jury comprised distinguished
personalities from across the world, under the chairmanship
of Dr Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden.
The award was presented by Baroness Amos, leader of
the UK's House of Lords, on February 16 2007 in the
presence of distinguished business and public leaders
and CSR experts at the second global conference on social
responsibility in Vilamoura, Portugal.
The Golden Peacock Award for
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is conferred annually.
In meeting its objective
of improving competitiveness of business through development
of leadership, the Institute of Directors has instituted
the Golden Peacock Awards to promote corporate excellence
in areas of quality, innovation, training, governance,
environment management and corporate social responsibility.
