TCS bags the prestigious CII-Exim Bank's Award for Business Excellence 2006

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was awarded the CII-EXIM Award for Business Excellence 2006 on November 16, 2006 at the 14th CII Quality Summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), held in Bangalore.

The award and a citation was received by CEO & MD S Ramadorai, accompanied by the Global Head of Human Resources, S Padmanabhan, global head of business excellence, G Jagannathan, and global head of BFS NG Subramanian, from the hon'ble minister for major and medium Industries, Katta Subramanya Naidu, Government of Karnataka.

It was a proud moment for every TCSer, when, accepting the award, S Ramadorai said "I am honoured that TCS is the recipient of the prestigious CII EXIM Award for Business Excellence. This is a vindication of our efforts to institutionalise the drive toward excellence. Excellence is of course a moving target; each time we raise the bar for ourselves to better it the next time round."

This is the most prestigious Award in India for Business Excellence that an Indian company can aspire for; it is a matter of national pride. The Award is administered by CII with the technical support from European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). In the last twelve years, only six companies have received this honour; TCS being the only company to have won the award in the first attempt at the enterprise level across all industry sectors.

Jointly instituted by CII and Exim in 1994, the award highlights the achievement of business excellence as a measure of organizational competitiveness. This coveted award was given to TCS after a rigorous evaluation process.

The combination of the expertise of the assessors, the rigour of the assessment process and the world-class award criteria ensure that the winners are truly excellent organizations.
