of a technology park in India
Tata

to design and build the most spectacular technology
park in the city of Chennai, India
December 8, 2004
Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS), the largest Indian
information technology company by revenue, announced
the appointment of Uruguayan architect Carlos
Ott in association with architect Carlos Ponce
de Leon to design and build the most striking
Development Center in India, the Siruseri Techno
Park of Chennai.
"We
are proud to have a Uruguayan architect develop
a project of such magnitude, it speaks of the
distinctive human resources that Uruguay has and
of the confidence that Tata has in Carlos Ott
and his team's competence," said Gabriel
Rozman, president of TCS for Latin America.
The
project includes the design of a Software Development
Park in the city of Chennai, India, inside the
Siruseri Techno Park, for Tata Consultancy Services.
The project comprises the global master plan development,
the architectural design and the interior design
of all the buildings of the park in a site of
more than 28 hectares: 12 buildings to house 15,000
IT engineers, plus all support personnel for the
functioning of the complex training premises,
library, customer services centre, a shopping
centre, two guest houses, a club house, parking
area, lakes and green areas.
The
buildings where software development will take
place will have the ultimate technology and the
flexibility to allow TCS to function reacting
to changing market demands. Working teams would
comprise 50 to 250 developers and will be supported
by the ultimate IT and service infrastructure.
The cost of the investment is around US$ 175 million.
"This
project will of demand us a big effort, but we
are ready to do it and we will work hard to be
worthy of TCS's trust," said Carlos Ott.
"In order to attain our goal we have joined
Carlos Ponce de Leon, a well known architect who
has in his portfolio works as the Zonamerica project."
This
will be the biggest project to be carried on by
Uruguayan architects in a foreign country, and
it will be completed in Zonamerica, Uruguay, by
Uruguayan technicians and professionals who will
work on this project during the next four years.
More than 30 professionals specialising in different
areas of architecture and urbanism will participate
in this project working in Zonamerica, Uruguay.
"This
is an example of TCS's and the Tata Group's commitment
to Uruguay, which has always supported our projects,"
adds Rozman.
