consulting firm unveils $100 million 'Strategy Consulting' practice

Known for Technology Expertise, TCS Targets
the Arena Dominated by Traditional Big Five Consulting Firms
Tata Consultancy
Services, one of the world's largest and fastest
growing software and IT services firms, today
entered a new realm of consulting that positions
the company to offer services that were traditionally
being offered by Big Five consultancies. TCS'
new "Strategy Consulting" practice,
estimated to achieve $ 100 Million in revenues
next year, will provide business and management
consulting services to Fortune 1000 companies.
"For 32 years, leading companies have sought
after TCS for its information technology skills,"
said TCS CEO S. Ramadorai at a special unveiling
ceremony of top executives in New York City. "Now,
we will offer our clients the complete one-stop
solution for creating a high-performance business.
TCS' 'Strategy Consulting' practice will offer
not only IT strategy services, but also strategic
alignment of IT strategies to their business strategies.
TCS has evolved unique Industry specific Systems
Engineering and Cybernetics methodologies for
supporting this practice."
TCS plans to further hone this methodology via
proposed alliances with leading business schools
in the United States, such as the Kellogg Graduate
School of Management at Northwestern University,
Carnegie Mellon University Business School, and
Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Over the last few years, TCS has experienced major
growth and the new "strategy consulting"
practice is part of the company's overall expansion
strategy. In June, Consultants News magazine ranked
TCS as the sixth fastest growing consulting firm
in the world and the fourth fastest growing consulting
firm in the United States. Further, according
to the Gartner Group, TCS has one of the world's
largest customer-relationship-management practices.
TCS is part of the $10 billion conglomerate TATA
Sons, Ltd., based in India.
"TCS has been providing end-to-end IT consulting
services for its Fortune 1000 customers around
the globe. We are now experiencing significant
demand from our clients to involve TCS in the
'strategy consulting' arena," said Ramadorai.
"Today, all businesses must use technology,
and, therefore, it makes sense to include those
who know technology best in the development of
overall business strategy."
The worldwide "Strategy Consulting"
practice will be led by Mr. R Ramanan from Bangalore,
India. Mr. Pinaki Dasgupta will lead the United
States' "Strategy Consulting" operations.
Services offered in this practice will include:
Quality Systems Consulting; Business Process Optimization;
IT Architecture; IT Enablement; and Activity Based
Management.
