TCS Ahmedabad centre has been assessed at Level
5, the highest level of Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model
(SEI-CMM).
The branch, which was established in 1994, has
more than 230 software professionals and wide range of projects in the domestic and
international markets, ranging from Client server financial applications, ERP
Implementation, Maintenance to new areas such as Development of Internet based information
system, revenue assurance system for the telecom industry. It is also involved in the
maintenance and customization of Ahmedabad Stock Exchange trading software. Building on
the strong process and metrics base the emphasis is on deployment of new tools and
technologies and defect prevention at all levels. This has helped to achieve the goal of
improved per person realization and value to customers as seen by the improving trend in
all metrics.
The center
had achieved level 4 of this scale in March 2000,
and had then set its goal for level 5 by the end
of 2000. It achieved this objective well in time.
TCS Ahmedabad is the eleventh TCS center to achieve
level 5. Other centers are the Qwest, HP, Global
Engineering Development Center, Ambattur and Shollinganallur
centers in Chennai, SEEPZ in Mumbai, and the Calcutta,
Bangalore, Hyderabad and Lucknow centers.
