TCS fellowships at NIT

Tata Consultancy Services has signed a letter of intent with the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirapalli, (formerly Regional Engineering College, Tiruchi) for intensified academic co-operation.

Under the agreement, TCS has instituted two fellowships, TCS Research Fellowship and TCS Junior Research Fellowship, at NIT Trichy. The TCS Fellowship is designed to facilitate NIT to run a three-year PhD programme in mutually acceptable areas.

Ravi Viswanathan, vice-president and head, Chennai operations, TCS, and M Chidambaram, director, NIT, Trichy, signed the LoI in Chennai, which is expected to create and promote shared synergies in research finetuned to industry requirements.

TCS will pay a monthly stipend of Rs16,000 to each of the Fellows. TCS Junior Research Fellows is designed to facilitate NIT to run a two-year MS programme by research, again in areas mutually acceptable with immediate effect.

TCS will pay a stipend of Rs8,000 per month per scholar enrolled.

TCS has over 45 MoUs with academic institutions for intensified co-operation, besides a large number of MoUs and LoIs with institutions across India and other geographies, including IIT Madras, IIT Mumbai, IISc Bangalore and PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
