TCS tops in exports

Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) has emerged as the leading
ITsoftware and service exporter in India, clocking IT
software and services (excluding ITE5-BPO) revenues
of Rs 7,449 crore followed by Infosys at Rs 6,8Q6 crore
and Wipro with Rs5,426crore respectively. Accordingto
the Nasscom survey of Top 20 IT software and ser-vice
exporters in India (excluding ITES-BPO revenues), the
Indian software and services employee base has grown
at a CAGR of 23.6%, from 242,000 in 2001-02 to 697,000
in FY 2003-04.
Nasscom president Kiran
Karnik said, "despite a larger base, the Indian
software and services industry has been able to maintain
its growth momentum and delivered better-than-expected
results. Software exports, the main stay of the industry,
grossed $ 12 billion in FY2004- Q5, up from $9.2 billion
in 2003-04, indicating growth of 30.4% for the year"
