TCS
best employer: Hewitt survey
Business Standard December
17, 2004
Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) has topped Hewitt's
best employer list this year. "For the company
to achieve its vision of being among the top 10
by 2010, it has to continuously strive to spot
the talent across the country for leadership role
which is both an opportunity and a challenge,"
said S Ramadorai, managing director of TCS. Another
challenge lies in the innovation engine and the
importance of constantly fueling it. The journey
is constant self development, visibility development.
Ramadorai
said, "we have a long way to go and we have
to constantly achieve visibility in terms of revenues,
productivity and patents that we apply, manpower
among other things." He says, "the listing
has given a lot more visibility to the company.
We are now more so underscrutiny, considering
that there are today lot many shareholders. The
listing has change a lot for the TCSers too."
272
Indian companies had participated in the Hewitt's
study. The selection of the Best Employers in
India was based on in-depth questionnaires completed
by the CEOs, HR departments and employees of participant
organisations, followed by an on-site audit. The
best employers are chosen by an independent judging
panel.
