TCS to market
its Hospital Management System abroad

Tata Consultancy Services is looking beyond the domestic
healthcare market and is planning to foray into Southeast Asia
and the European market for its flagship healthcare product,
Hospital Management System. "We have a decent exposure in
the US, UK and Indian market. The SE Asian and European
countries have similar hospital management practices and thus
we are targeting these markets.
Moreover, both the markets have not been using IT for
health-care practices and we think we can tap these huge
market," Mr J. Rajagopal, director-global life sciences
& healthcare, TCS, told The Asian Age. The healthcare
division of TCS is also planning to double its manpower from
the present 450 within the next 18 months.
"The total IT market for the healthcare industry
in the country is about Rs 500 crores and it is
growing 20 per cent annually. We want to grab
a major part of this emerging market and we can
do this by strengthening ourselves," Mr Rajagopal
said. The HMS package has 22 modules and caters
to different areas of healthcare institutions
such as patient care and hospital administration.
