Tata
Teleservices crosses the 18 million subscribers milestone
July 22, 2007
Tata Indicom,
India's youngest pan-India wireless mobile service provider,
has crossed the milestone of 18 million subscribers
to its services. Since establishing a pan-India presence
in March 2005, the service had registered a compounded
annual growth rate (CAGR) of 112 per cent, the highest
in the industry. Tata Indicom added close to 7.6 million
subscribers in the last fiscal, resulting in a year-on-year
increase of 86 per cent in its total subscriber base,
again the highest in the industry.
"A high quality 3G-ready network and an extensive
branded retail presence are sources of our competitive
advantage. The customer response to our network campaign,
ongoing tariff innovations, value added services like
mobile internet radio, and the wide range of our handsets,
has been very encouraging," said Ashok Sud, president
(corporate affairs), Tata Teleservices.
A capital expenditure of over Rs4000 crore has been
earmarked for further enhancing the reach of Tata Indicom
during the year 2007-2008.
