Teleservices adds 11 CDMA cell sites

Hyderabad:
Tata
Teleservices Limited (TTL), the private basic
telephone service provider for Andhra Pradesh,
has added 11 more Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) cell sites to its existing base of 30 cell
sites in Hyderabad and Secunderabad over the last
month. With
this addition,
TTL's overall coverage area has increased
to 260 sq. km. in the twin cities from the current
150 sq. km.
The 11 new cell sites — installed at Hi-Tech City,
Jeedimetla, Vanasthalipuram, Suroornagar, Hayathnagar,
Habsiguda, Malkajgiri, Moula Ali, Ramanthapur,
A. S. Rao Nagar and Neeredmet — will enhance the
coverage of TTL's wireless services and improve
the quality of calls as well as provide quick
connections. TTL has invested about Rs 12 crore
in the installation of these cell sites.
TTL
has a wireless customer base of over 55,000. With
the expansion of the cell sites, the company’s
services are now available to all wireless customers
within the coverage area.
Speaking
on the occasion, Mr Ajay Pandey, COO, Tata Teleservices
Limited, said: “In keeping with our plans to provide
quick connections
and improved network support to our wireless
customers, we have added 11 more CDMA cell sites
in various locations around the city. The network
is designed to help improve the quality of voice
transmission on Tata Mobitel and fixed wireless
connections. By the end of December 2001, we plan
to further expand the number of cell sites to
50 in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.”
