Telecom
service provider Tata Teleservices on Friday launched
a service that will offer help to subscribers during
any emergency. The exigency service, i-Help, will have
a number of services in its portfolio to meet the requirements
of the subscribers.
The first service that has been launched here on Friday
would allow mobile users to contact their family and
friends instantly in cases of an emergency. "The
service will be helpful specially for people working
in night shifts in BPO, mainly working women,"
Tata Teleservices President (VAS), Pankaj Sethi, told
reporters here.
The company is hoping for an increased contribution
of value added services (VAS) to the revenue from current
10 per cent to 15 per cent.
The service is available free of cost for all Tata
Indicom pre-paid and post-paid subscribers and it is
available in 11 regional languages. To avail the service,
subscribers will have to register the three preferred
numbers to be contacted in an emergency.
In case of emergency, the caller can dial a specific
number provided by Tata Teleservices and the system
would call and send SMS to the three numbers, intimating
them that the subscriber is in need of help.
