Tata
Teleservices in distance learning
The Statesman - January 25, 2008
Tata Teleservices Limited said
that it has entered into a strategic alliance with SNDT
Women's University, to provide distance learning education
on mobile phones.
The mobile education service will enable delivery of
e-learning programme to people even in the remote locations.
This remote mobile education service is meant for students
of the rural areas, who cannot get qualified teachers
or even get the chance to study in good collages.
Tata Indicom is acting as the carrier, whereas Atom
Technologies is providing the intermediary interfaces
and the service distribution and dissemination system
is managed by IPTL (through Pay Phones' Welfare Association
and 5,00,000 constituent members).
