Tata Indicom, has emerged as
the fastest-growing wireless operator in the country,
increasing its marketshare from 3.53 per cent in March
2004 to 9.7 per cent in March 2007.
Tata Indicom is the brand under
which Tata Group's Tata Teleservices offers its integrated
telecom solutions to its customers.
Almost all other players registered
a decline in their market share in the same period,
the company, quoting the latest data published by the
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for the
year-ending March 2007, said in a release today.
"Data published by TRAI
is yet another acknowledgement of the fact that Tata
Indicom is the preferred service provider for Indian
mobile users across all segments," Tata Teleservices'
president (corporate affairs) Ashok Sud said in the
release.
"It also bears a testimony
to the trust of our valued subscribers as well as strength
of our superior next- generation network, customer friendly
and innovative products and services," he added.
Since establishing a pan-India
presence in March 2005, Tata Teleservices has clocked
a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 112 per cent,
the highest in the industry.
Tata Indicom added close to 7.6
million subscribers in the last fiscal, resulting in
a year-on-year increase of 86 per cent in its total
subscriber base, again the highest in the country, the
release added.
