Telecom
services provider Tata Teleservices said it will launch
Internet radio in its mobile handsets.
There would be 41 radio channels,
including BBC, Bloomberg, CNN and different genres of
music in the handsets provided by the CDMA major, which
operates its services under the brand name Tata Indicom.
Subscribers would be charged
Rs50 for a month's subscription, Tata Teleservices president
(value-added services) Pankaj Sethi said at a press
meet here. Initially, the new service would be available
in handsets of Rs8,000.
"In three months, the facility
would be available even in Rs3,000 handsets," Sethi
said.
The Internet radio application has been developed by
US-based Locate-it Info Inc, which will share the revenues
with Tata Teleservices, he said.
He, however, did not give
details of revenue sharing pattern. The company would
provide services of radio stations which have free subscription
on the Internet.
