Tata Indicom's new mobile scheme gets good response

Tata Indicom has received an overwhelming response to
its recently-launched non-stop mobile scheme. The company
added one million new customers during a 45 day period,
said Prabhat Pani, chief operating officer, Karnataka
& Andhra Pradesh, Tata Teleservices.
Speaking to reporters here after launching the 'Kannada
Voice Station' on walky and mobile, here, he said: "We
are well on course to achieving our target of adding
10 million new customers across the country under the
non stop mobile scheme by the end of this fiscal. We
have run out of handsets to supply new customers."
Its present subscriber base stands at over 6.5 million
in India, of which 6 lakh are in Karnataka, one of the
fastest growing telecom markets in the country.
The 'Kannada Voice Station' is a multi-access entertainment
voice portal on Tata Indicom Mobile and Walky, which
offers a variety of content such as Rajkumar Zone, Kannada
Top 10 songs, dial-a-song, Kannada evergreen hits, Kannada
jokes, astrology, Kannada Aradhane and news.
Subscribers in Karnataka can dial 12900 and enjoy various
services. The primary objective of the offering is to
increase penetration and usage for the 12900 Voice Station
service in the Karnataka market through a complete Kannada
language and content experience.
The customers can access the service round the clock
from anywhere in Karnataka using the Walky or Mobile.
Anybody can use it as the voice-prompts guide the user
in his or her own language of comfort.
The calls to the number are charged at Rs 6 per minute
for Walky, CMO Postpaid and Walky prepaid and 10 paise
per second for CMO prepaid.
