Tata Indicom's Walky gets smarter
The Asian Age — March 24, 2005

Tata Indicom launched the new LG LSP350T series of phones for their "Fixed wireless" category. Branded under the "New Smarter Walky", tagline, the new phone is sleeker, feature rich and more high tech than the previously available Axesstel range. Talking on the occasion, Mr K. Sukumar, the general manager, central marketing and retail business unit, Tata Teleservices Limited, said," With more than 20 lakh subscribers and a 59 per cent market share already in the fixed wireless category, we are emerging as the leaders in this business.

Our newest addition will help consolidate this position furthermore." The new Korean-made phones equipped with the latest MSM 6025 chipset come in both, grey as well as white colour options. A wide-view graphic backlit display, messaging facilities in Hindi, a 500 contact storage facility, polyphonic ringtones, 2000 number storage facility and Internet connectivity only add to the class of the phone.

Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis sensation is the brand ambassador. Available exclusively to Tata Indicom subscribers, new subscribers can opt for this newer version with only an additional payment of Rs 200 over the previous version that will continue to be available at Rs 800. Existing subscribers can also upgrade by paying the difference and returning their older phones. Fixed Wireless phones are supposed to be used at a single location and cannot be "mobile", in any way.
