Tele to set up 400 net kiosks in TN

Tata Teleservices
(TTSL) has tied up with Tier 1 internet service
provider n-Logue Communications to set up 400
telephone and internet kiosks in rural Tamil Nadu.
The
four short distance charge areas (SDCAs) covered
are Bhavani, Vaniyambadi, Gudiyatham and Mayavaram
would be operational in three months.
A
typical kiosk will offer telephone and internet
services to the local community. It will come
with a telephone, personal computer, internet/voice
connection and a suite of packaged software in
local languages, according to R Balachandran,
the chief operating officer of TTSL.

Ponnapa, the chief executive offier of n-Logue
said n-Logue Communications, part of the TeNet
Group , said it would be providing the network
infrastructure and last mile connectivity. It
would use CorDECT. The kiosks will act a local
and STD/ISD telephone booth, an internet centre,
e-governance and e-education centre and provide
employment to the educated people in the locality.
