Tata
launches WLL, basic services in Delhi

Tata Teleservices
Limited (TTSL), country's leading basic services
operator unveiled its national brand, "Tata
Indicom" at the launch of its basic services
in Delhi circle on Thursday.
Communications and IT Minister Pramod Mahajan
and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit inaugurated
the service.
Tata Teleservices product offerings would in a
phased manner include CDMA mobile, fixed wireless,
wireline and data services, including ISDN, DSL,
virtual private networks and a host of integrated
telecom solutions.
Mahajan in his inaugural speech said, "Tata
is known for its credibility and quality and we
hope the same in its service in future."
He said that the upcoming companies in the basic
service provider should not worry, as India by
2012 requires 500 million telephone lines.
The Group Chairman, Ratan Tata, said, "This
inauguration marks the completion of the first
phase of the Group's plan in basic services and
takes the Group closer to its objective of offering
the best in class service and complete telecom
solutions to its customers."
As part of mobile tariff, the company is offering
a standard tariff plan at a monthly rental of
Rs 200 and outgoing call charge of Rs 1.20 per
three minute and incoming calls free.
The security deposit under this plan for local
access would be Rs 2400 and for local, STD and
ISD would be Rs 4400 while the activation fee
would be Rs 1000 plus 5 per cent service tax.
There would no free local calls under the standard
plan, officials said.
In another attractive package -- `friends 599',
the company would not charge any monthly rental
on a monthly commitment of Rs 599 and would offer
400 free local calls. The security deposit under
this plan for local access is nil, for local and
STD is Rs 1000 and for local, STD and ISD is Rs
2000.
Activitation fee under this plan would be the
same as that of standard plan, they said adding
charges for call above 400 free calls would be
Rs 1.20 per 3 minute pulse with free incoming
calls.
