This follows reports in some newspapers today headlined "Tata Tea GM lynched".

Mr. H.R. Khusrokhan, Managing Director, Tata Tea Ltd., clarified that the late Mr. H.S. Mann, who was killed in an unfortunate incident involving the workers at a tea plantation in Assam, was not an employee of Tata Tea. The tea estate in question belongs to Jayshree Tea and Industries Limited. There has not been any agitation or untoward incident in any Tata Tea plantation in Assam.
