Over 40 schools are likely to
form the field for the fifth leg of the Tata Tea
Arsenal soccer stars inter-school seven-a-side
competition for children under-15 to be played at the
Ambedkar Stadium here on April 12 and 13.
The teams will be divided into 16 groups. Following
the league on the first day, the group winners will
advance to the knock-out phase to be played the following
day. The finalists will join their counterparts from
eight other centres in the all-India final to be played
in Kolkata on May 17.
At the end of the competition, former players Harjinder
Singh, Premnath Philip, Jamshed Nassiri and Brahmanand
Sankwalkar will select 30 players out of which 15 will
form a team to represent India in the Arsenal International
Soccer Festival to be held in the United Kingdom. The
boys will be coached by Arsenal coaches, headed by Paul
Shipwright, for two weeks in August at Arsenal.
