CII
recognises Tata BlueScope Steel for safety beliefs and
practices
February 26, 2008
Tata BlueScope Steel is the youngest
company to get the honour in the Western region
The Hinjewadi plant of Tata BlueScope Steel has been
adjudged the first runner up for the prestigious Confederation
of Indian Industry (CII) Safety, Health and Environment
(SHE) Awards 2007 (Western region). The award was presented
to the company at a glittering ceremony held at Mumbai
on February 26, 2008.
Instituted to acknowledge the vision and exemplary
commitment, the CII SHE Award 2007 is given for concerted
efforts in the areas of environmental responsibility,
concern for occupational health and safety of employees
and society as a whole. The accelerated growth of companies
in the past decade has offered tremendous business opportunities.
On the other hand, the industrialisation process has
also led to several environmental and safety concerns.
There is a conscientious effort by leaders to move from
"bench marking" to "path breaking"
levels in this area and achieve excellence. It is this
commitment and spirit that the Leadership & Excellence
Award in SHE acknowledges. It appreciates innovative
practices and commitment to install high environmental
consciousness among all employees and to acknowledge
programmes and projects that promote sustainable development.
Tata BlueScope Steel is the youngest company to receive
this award in the history of CII though the contenders
were some of the best and well established companies
in the western region. The winning of this award is
proof of its commitment and continuous effort towards
safety.
