Steel: Lifeline Express concluded at Sini, Jharkhand

The
Sini Lifeline Express project is its tenth initiative
in India and sixth in Jharkhand by Tata Steel
The 10th Lifeline Express
worlds first hospital on rails by Tata
Steel in association with Impact India, government of
Jharkhand and Indian Railways, which was inaugurated
at Sini railway station siding on December 14, 2005
by the chief minister of Jharkhand, Arjun Munda concluded
today.
Speaking on the concluding function,
the chief guest, Sudhir Mahto, MLA, and leader of the
opposition in the state assembly appreciated the commitment
of improving the quality of healthcare of the people
of the state. He also distributed tricycle / wheel chair
/ surgical shoe and callipers to the patients and dark
glasses to the operated cataract cases. Bagun Sumbrui,
member of parliament from Singhbhum (W), Chaibasa congratulated
Tata Steel for healthcare and requested Tata Steel to
extend this excellent service to other area of Singhbhum
and distributed certificates to volunteers, surgeons
and members of the medical team.
During the orthopaedic camp (December
14-19), nearly 321 patients were screened, out of which
28 cases were admitted and 24 cases were operated, and
68 patients were given aid and appliances.
Similarly in the ENT camp organised
from December 20-25, 2005, 1,407 cases were registered
out of which 143 cases were selected for aid and appliances.
In the cleft lip surgery camp
organised from December 26, 2005, 261 cases were registered,
out of which 229 cases were selected and 155 cases were
operated. 64 cases were referred to Tata Main Hospital,
Jamshedpur.
The eye camp screened a total
case of 2,275, out of which the operated cases were
475 (including elderly males and females). In eye surgery,
quality was given more preference over quantity. Most
of the surgeries were done by the latest technique of
Small Incision Cataract Microsurgery.

Noamundi, Ghatsila, Jassidih, Bhelatand.
Lifeline Express is the worlds
first hospital on rails that offers on-the-spot diagnostic,
medical and surgical interventions to the disabled,
free of cost. This hospital on rails, shares miracles
of modern medicine with the villagers of India, a large
majority of whom are unable to gain access to medical
practitioners. The hospital has four coaches, fully
equipped and air-conditioned for pre and post-operative
care.
While speaking on the occasion
A N Singh, deputy managing director (corporate services),
reiterated the commitment of Tata Steel towards society.
