conferred ISO 14001:2004 (EMS) and ISO 9001:2000 (QMS)

Jamshedpur
Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO), a corporate
in the business of providing civic services (a wholly
owned subsidiary of Tata Steel), was conferred ISO 14001:2004
(EMS) and ISO 9001:2000 (QMS) today at Jamshedpur.
The certificates were given to JUSCO by Atul Kumar,
principal surveyor, IRQS, at a function in Jamshedpur.
With this, JUSCO continues to maintain the position
as the only civic services provider in the company to
be ISO 14001 certified for environment management
system
for all its services. Along with this certification,
JUSCO's five other units, that is, public health and
horticulture services, power services, water and waste
water management, integrated customer services and
planning, engineering and construction, were certified to ISO
9001:2000 (QMS) standards.
JUSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary
of Tata Steel, was formed on April 1 2004, with the
main objective of improving the quality of services
provided in Jamshedpur and to corporatise the pioneering
effort of providing civic and allied services in the
country. JUSCO, which is a part of the Tata Group that
values environment management, has upheld them by following
and implementing environmental management policies and
programmes in all its operations. The company has made
an environmental policy, which has been communicated
and cascaded, to all its stakeholders. It also ensures
that all regulatory norms are not only complied with
but also exceeded beyond the expectations of its stakeholders.
In its journey of little over a year, JUSCO has received
many awards like J N Tata Commendation Certificate for
Commitment to Business Excellence, CRISIL Award for
Excellence in Municipal Initiatives 2004-05 for "Excellence
in improving service delivery through corporatisation",
etc.
A N Singh, Chairman,
JUSCO and chief guest at the function also congratulated
the entire team of JUSCO for having achieved this certification
again and as a separate entity of Tata Steel.
