2004
Tata
Steel has filed one of the strongest corporate sustainability
reports from emerging economy countries reports and
is definitely India's top reporter according to the
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Sustainability,
Standard & Poor. UNEP and Sustainability, Standard
& Poor, both international organisations, have globally
surveyed the 2004 corporate sustainability reports published
by various companies.
Sustainability,
Standard & Poor, and UNEP conducted the 'Global
Reporters 2004 Survey of CSR' and published the results
in a report called 'Risk and Opportunity-Best Practices
in Non-Financial reporting'. They have globally surveyed
more than 1,000 reports prepared by different companies
across the globe. This corporate sustainability report
is prepared as per the Global Reporting Initiative and
gives details of performances of companies.
Tata
Steel was the first company in India who started filing
and publishing its performance as per the Global Reporting
Initiative four years ago. This report is verified by
PriceWaterhouseCoopers every year. Now more than 20
Indian companies also publish this report every year.
