Tata Steel has been adjudged the best establishment in the eastern region at the 16th CII Workskills India Regional Competition held from  September 9 to12, 2003, at ATI Dasnagar, Howrah. This is based on the outstanding performance of the trainees from Tata Steel, who competed with a number of organisations from eastern India in various trades.

This honour has been achieved on the back of Tata Steel's trainees winning 12 of a possible 18 first prizes. The company bagged 30 of the total 62 possible prizes (48 per cent).
