The Government of India has accepted the recommendation of the Panel of Judges that the Prime Ministers Trophy for the Best Performing Steel Plant for the year 1999-2000 be awarded to Tata Steel, Jamshedpur.

Tata Steel has been conferred this award for the third time since its institution. The Trophy comes with a cash award of Rs 1 crore.
