This
year marks the eleventh anniversary of the Qimpro Awards:
Over a decade of honouring outstanding individuals in
the field of quality. The Awards ceremony was held on
20 November 2000 at The Zodiac Grill, Taj Mahal Hotel,
Mumbai, from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm.
Stringent
criteria formed the basis of selection. The individual
awards presented were:
- Qimpro
Platinum Standard – statesman for national
quality.
The winner - Dr J. J. Irani, Managing Director,
The Tata Iron and Steel Company. Dr Irani led the
transformation of Tata Steel from an old-age management
organization to a new - world leader. His endeavours
towards transforming the "quality of life"
at Tata Steel and in India are legendary
- Qimpro
Gold Standard – leader adopting world-class
quality models.
The winner - Mr Sampathkumar Moorthy, President,
Sundram Fasteners
- Qimpro
Silver Standard – manager of an international
quality systems.
The winner - Mr Prabhu Sinha, Senior Vice President
(Quality), Satyam Computer Services
- Qimpro
Bronze Standard – facilitator for process
improvement.
The winner - Mr A K Jain, Deputy General Manager
(Quality Systems), Sterlite Industries (Copper Division)
- Qimpro
Medal – for commitment to quality by a Non-Resident
Indian.
The winner - Dr Hans Bajaria, President, Multiface
Inc.
Qimpro
Awards have been recognized by the American Society
for Quality and the Institute of Quality Assurance,
UK and are the only awards of their kind in India. The
Awards are governed by the Qimpro Foundation.
The Panel of Judges meeting to select the winners for
the Qimpro Awards 2000 was held on 20 October 2000 at
the TCS Boardroom. The meeting was chaired by Mr F C
Kohli, Chairman, TCS, and Qimpro Platinum Standard 1999.
The
