Tata organises free eye camp

A four-day free eye cure camp was organised by Tata Steel Hospital, Joda and Tata Steel Rural Development Society recently, wherein a total number of 291 patients, including 137 women, participated.

The deputy director of mines, Joda, inaugurated the camp and the sub-collector Champua was present at the closing function as chief guest. Mr Jitendra Pattanaik, chairman of Joda municipality, attended the camp as the guest of honour, while Mr Sailsh Verma presided over the closing day function.

The other dignitaries present during the closing day of the camp were CMO Dr DD Das, Mr Anurag Dixit and Mr Prasant Mallik, head FAP. While the Mahila Samity has distributed saris and bedsheets, the Rotary Cub provided glasses to all those who were operated upon.

The operations were performed by the surgeons from SM Foundation Bhubaneswar, namely, Dr Prasanna Kumar Mohanty and Dr Ashok Nanda.

Cataract patients from Champua, Jhumpura and Joda blocks of Keonjhar district and West Singhbhum of Jharkand were also treated.

Apart from the four-day free eye cure camp, Tata Steel, with Tata Steel Rural Development Society, will organise a follow-up camp for the operated patients at Tata Steel Hospital, Joda on 25 and 26 March at the Joda West Recreation Club Hall.
