Tata
Steel to hike hot metal output
The Financial Express
March 28, 2005
Tata Iron & Steel Company
(Tisco) is going to make up for the loss in production
from its biggest 3,400-tonne per day (tpd) G
blast furnace, which has been shut down since
December last year for a major capacity expansion-cum-revamping,
by way of increasing hot metal production at its
six other blast furnaces. Post-revamp, the blast
furnace will be contributing around 5,150 tpd
or 1.88 million tonne per annum (mtpa) of hot
metal to the companys production, which
will mean an increase of around 51% from its last
1.24 mtpa production capacity.
The loss in production
of G blast furnace will be compensated
by increased production in A-F furnaces
through well-planned measures of throughput and
production scheduling, Tisco MD B Muthuraman
said.
